The Sun reports that Middlesbrough manager, Gareth Southgate, will offer £5million for Newcastle’s winger James Milner if he fails to keep Gary O’Neil.
Gary O’Neil, who moved from Portsmouth to Middlesbrough in 2007 for an estimated £5million, has failed to settle with his family in the North East, and could be on his way south again with both West Ham and Fulham interested in the 24-year-old.
Southgate said: “We want to keep Gary and, ideally, we can get everything sorted out soon.â€Â
Milner ,22, began his career at Leeds United in 2002 and joined Newcastle in 2004 for £4million.
