Injured Spain strikers David Villa and Sergio Garcia have pulled out of Wednesday night’s Euro 2008 warm-up match against the USA at Santander, Spain’s team doctor said.

The absence of these key players could seriously hamper the attacking options of coach Luis Aragones as Spain build up for the June 7 to 29 finals in Austria and Switzerland.

Striker Fernando Torres was already a doubt for the match with a slightly twisted ankle while attacking midfielder Andres Iniesta will definitely not feature because of food poisoning.

“The Villa injury is worrying us the most,” Spain team doctor Jorge Candel told the media.

The Valencia centre forward is suffering from a right quadriceps injury after a training ground incident on Tuesday. He had tests on Tuesday which revealed a major bruise, Candel added.

Sergio Garcia, who plays as a striker for Real Zaragoza but as an attacking midfielder for his country, is also suffering from a bruise, but this time on his calf muscle.
