Spalletti: “Burdisso has character”

Luciano Spalletti believes Roma will be competitive if they can bring Nicolas Burdisso in from Inter. “He has character and experience.” The Giallorossi have been fairly inactive on the transfer market so far this summer, notable only for selling Alberto Aquilani to Liverpool for £18m. “Other clubs made their moves early, but we are still in a position to do very well,” said the Coach. “Sometimes the details make the difference. You can stay up there with Inter, Juventus and Milan or you can battle for Europe like we did last season. Anything can happen.”

One of the primary targets for reinforcement is Argentine defender Burdisso, currently warming the bench at Inter. “He has character and experience. We’ve been following him and made enquiries, he could have the qualities to add something to our squad,” added Spalletti. “This side was built with important investments based on results from past seasons.
