Liverpool’s Spanish goalkeeper Jose Reina on Friday signed a new six-year contract with the club and admitted his children were becoming expert in the distinctive, local Scouse accent.
The new agreement, which replaces the 27-year-old’s previous deal, commits Reina to the club until 2016 and could extend his spell on Merseyside to 11 years.
“I’m delighted to sign a new contract,” said Reina, who joined Liverpool from Villarreal in 2005.
“It’s probably the best news of my life that I’ll be here for the next six years. Me and my family are really happy here.
“To play for Liverpool is very special. My kids enjoy it here and they have picked up the Scouse accent already. I am really proud of that.”
