Spartak Moscow failed to apply pressure on Russian league leaders Rubin Kazan, instead suffering a 2-1 defeat at Saturn Mosk Oblast.

Dmitri Loskov put Saturn ahead after 30 minutes, but Spartak initially came back with an Alex equalizer from the penalty spot five minutes after the interval.

The hosts soon replied though, as Marko Topic made it 2-1 three minutes later.

The gap with Rubin now stands at six points, and could grow to nine when the Kazan outfit visit Tom Tomsk on Sunday.
