Spartak Moscow maintain pressure on Rubin Kazan

Spartak Moscow reduced the gap with Russian leaders Rubin Kazan to one point with Sunday’s convincing 5-1 victory over FK Rostov na Donu.

Brazilian Alex opened the score after 19 minutes in the Russian capital city, and Pavel Yakovlev doubled the advantage five minutes before the break.

Aleksandr Gatskan then did something back for Rostov in the sixth minute after the interval, but Alex netted his second of the day to make it 3-1 eight minutes later.

Goals from Zhano Ananidze (78th) and Welliton (82nd) gave Spartak a comfortable 5-1 win.

Rubin remain on top with three matches left to play in Russia, but Spartak are only one point behind.
