Spartak Nalchik dropped to third place in the Russian Premier League following a 1-0 defeat at Tom Tomsk on Saturday.

The former leaders failed to score at Tom Tomsk, who themselves netted the only goal of the match on 67 minutes when Sergey Kornilenko converted a penalty.

On Friday, CSKA Moscow beat defending champions Rubin Kazan in a battle for second place. The only goal in that game came from Mark Gonzalez in the 38th minute.

Zenit St. Petersburg did not play this weekend but remain in first place with a game in hand.

The Russian league is taking a summer break and resumes on Jule 7.
