Wales manager Gary Speed wants his team to begin producing results to go with their impressive performances.
Speed’s team were solid in Euro 2012 qualifiers against Montenegro and England, winning 2-1 and losing 1-0 in the respective Group G outings.
They sit bottom of the group with just three points and Speed, who took charge in December 2010, said results needed to come.
“I think it’s good there is expectation. We’ll play well after the England performance,” Speed said on Thursday, a day prior to their meeting with Switzerland.
“If we are going to be successful there will expectation and we need to learn how to deal with it. At the same time the England performance was OK, the most encouraging thing is that having watched the video we can play much better than that.”
“That’s the pleasing thing for me, that there is so much more to come. Hopefully the expectation can bring that out of the players.”
“We had to nail down a playing style first to the players to make sure long term we are successful. But it’s important that the results come as well, otherwise the belief in the system or the way we play won’t be there.”
Wales captain Aaron Ramsey said the squad had grown in confidence and believed they could produce results.
“The players believe now, they’ve always had the quality, but it’s about playing consistently through the games and that’s what we’ve done,” the Arsenal midfielder said.
“Hopefully we can keep doing that and get some positive results out of these two games.”
