Celtic fought off a determined Dundee United to record a 3-1 victory at Tannadice Park in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.

The league leaders, who extended their advantage over Rangers to five points with the result, got the ideal start against sixth-placed Dundee when striker Anthony Stokes found the back of the net in the 16th minute.

Defender Mark Wilson doubled the lead for Neil Lennon’s side 20 minutes later, ensuring the Hoops went to the break with a two-goal buffer.

The hosts hit back, however, when striker David Goodwillie brought the game back to life with a 64th minute goal, as Dundee looked to snare a surprise result.

But a diving Daniel Majstorovic header in the 78th minute reinstated Celtic’s two-goal lead, and they held on to claim all three points.
