Celtic has closed to within one point of table-toppers Rangers in the Scottish Premier League after a 4-0 away win at Kilmarnock on Wednesday.
Just a day earlier, Rangers also won 4-0 on the road at Dundee United to stretch their lead atop the league to four points, but Celtic hit straight back with an impressive away performance that sees them capable of overtaking their city rivals with a game still in hand.
Neil Lennon’s side entered the match in terrific form, having won their last four league encounters, while despite sitting fifth, Kilmarnock had struggled recently and just won one of their last four matches.
And their poor form looked like continuing when Kris Commons opened the scoring for Celtic after just four minutes, and the January transfer window signing from Derby netted his ninth goal for the club in all competitions when he grabbed a second half an hour later.
Gary Hooper put the result beyond doubt with his goal four minutes before half time and strike partner Anthony Stokes also got his name on the scoresheet, scoring the fourth and final goal of the match after 58 minutes.
