Dunfermline led twice against Inverness but required a Martin Hardie pearler to earn a point 3-3 in the Scottish Premier League on Saturday.
Athletic led 1-0 at the break courtesy of the first of Andy Kirk’s brace, but Inverness were level in the first minute of the second half at East End Park when Greg Tansey equalised with a low, deflected drive.
Kirk’s second re-gifted the hosts the advantage, but Inverness led on the back of goals to Jonathan Hayes and Tansey – the latter’s strike coming in the 83rd minute.
However, set-piece specialist Hardie curled home a 30-yard free-kick to earn the SPL newcomers an invaluable point.
Dundee United and St Mirren drew 1-1 at Tannadice Park, sending both sides to the top of the table on five points.
Steven Thompson put the visitors ahead on 11 minutes, but Jon Daly’s equaliser midway through the second stanza earned United a point.
Both Dundee and St Mirren have played more games than teams below them on the table, with powerhouses Celtic set to be in action on Sunday.
