Rangers sunk 10-man Dundee to stay top of the Scottish Premier League while rivals Celtic trounced Motherwell 4-0.
Dundee’s Johnny Russell was sent from the field for a headbutt on Kirk Broadfoot with Rangers eventually making the advantage count through Kyle Lafferty’s 61st-minute header.
Steven Davis struck both posts as the visitors pressed for a second but the three points were never really in doubt as Rangers won 1-0.
James Forrest put Celtic ahead as they set about leap-frogging Motherwell into second place.
Joe Ledley put the hosts two up just before the interval before Ki Sung-Yeung’s superb strike had them three goals ahead on 67 minutes.
Another Celtic counter saw Forrest complete his brace with the Glasgow giants maintaining the pressure on Rangers, sitting just a point behind the leaders after six matches.
Kilmarnock moved up to fourth with a thrilling 3-2 win over Dunfermline at Rugby Park.
A double from Paul Heffernan and Zdenek Kroca’s curled finish after 62 minutes sealed the three points after the visitors had equalised at 2-2.
Meanwhile, Inverness shared the spoils with Hearts at 1-1, Stephen Elliott cancelling out Gregory Tade’s strike for Inverness.
St Mirren also had to settle for a point with their entertaining encounter with St Johnstone ending in a goalless draw.
