A last-gasp strike from Thomas Reilly secured St Mirren a 1-1 draw on their trip to Motherwell in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday.
Motherwell, who finished third in the SPL last term, took the lead after just two minutes when Michael Higdon’s left-footed shot beat Craig Samson in the Saints’ goal, much to the delight of the Fir Park faithful.
But St Mirren refused to go away, and their cause was aided when Motherwell defender Shaun Hutchinson was dismissed by referee Euan Norris for a second bookable offence in the 88th minute.
The visitors continued to sweep forward, and they finally restored parity in the fourth minute of stoppage time when Reilly was on hand to latch on to Steven Thompson’s header and fire past Darren Randolph to secure a point.
The result leaves Motherwell with just one win and three draws from their opening four matches.
In Sunday’s other game, Aberdeen and Hearts played out a goalless draw at Pittodrie.
