Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola understands that Sporting CP have agreed a deal to sign Argentine midfielder Alan Ruiz from Colon de Santa Fe.

The agreement between the two clubs was reached on Thursday morning, with the Lions set to pay $6 million for the 22-year-old footballer.

Ruiz will sign a four-year contract with Sporting until June 2020 and he gets the opportunity to prove his worth in one of Europe’s top leagues.

The attacking midfielder, who can also operate as a forward, has already represented Gimnasia La Plata, San Lorenzo, Gremio and Colon de Santa Fe, making 121 league appearances in total.

It was at Colon that he finally established himself as a first team regular and he has been in amazing form this season, netting 7 times in as many league matches, with his hat-trick in the 4-1 triumph over River Plate likely to be remembered in years to come.
