Sporting Lisbon have emerged as favourites to sign Lorient striker Vincent Aboubakar, according to L’Equipe.
With Islam Slimani widely tipped to leave Estadio Jose Alvalade in the coming days, the Lions are in the market for a new striker.
And they seem to have decided to make Lorient’s Vincent Aboubakar their number one target as L’Equipe understands that Sporting are pondering a €10 million bid for the player’s services.
The same source has suggested that the forward’s agents are confident the deal will be closed soon.
Vincent Aboubakar, 22, impressed in his first season at the club having joined from Valenciennes, netting 16 times in 35 league matches.
He was in turn linked with Monaco, Benfica and Wolfsburg, while scoring in the first match of the new season to help les Merlus beat Monaco on the road.
Lorient host Nice in the second round of the league campaign, with home win available at 3/4.
