According to Record, Sporting CP are on a mission to right the supposed wrongs created by former president Bruno de Carvalho as they attempt to re-sign the following three players: Gelson Martins, Rafael Leao and Bruno Fernandes. The public image of the club has been suffering for quite some time because of this whole ordeal, and while that may not necessarily be the fault of anyone still at the club, it seems as if they’re hell-bent on trying to fix it.

While many more players had their contracts terminated, these three are seen as priorities for Sporting as they attempt to restore their reputation as a force to be reckoned with in European football. They finished 3rd in the Primeira Liga last season, three points behind Benfica who were the runners-up and ten back from Porto who restored their spot as the top club in Portugal, although the league as a whole is still considered to be light years away from La Liga, Premier League and more in terms of quality.
