Portuguese giants Sporting CP are set to complete the signing of French defender Jeremy Mathieu from Barcelona, according to A Bola.
The experienced centre-back has found an agreement with the Lions after agreeing to a pay cut, whereas the Catalans will allow him to leave on a free transfer despite the fact that his contract runs until June 2018.
Mathieu was keen to leave Barcelona in search of first team football and he gets a chance to resurrect his career at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo claims that Sporting CP have registered an interest in his teammate Arda Turan, who is also tipped to quit Camp Nou.
Super agent Jorge Mendes was in Barcelona on Wednesday and he reportedly informed the Catalans of Sporting’s plans regarding the Turkish footballer.
Arda Turan didn’t quite manage to prove his worth at Camp Nou, scoring 5 goals in 36 La Liga outings.
