Sporting CP eyeing Mario Hermoso

Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola is reporting that Sporting CP are keeping close tabs on Espanyol full-back Mario Hermoso.

With Jonathan Silva expected to join Boca Juniors in January, head coach Jorge Jesus has requested a new left-sided defender.

According to reports, Espanyol starlet Mario Hermoso has emerged as his top target, despite the fact that he was mostly used as a central defender this season.

The 22-year-old played at left-back throughout his youth career with Real Madrid, and also represented Spain U-19’s, scoring 2 goals in 5 appearances.

He was sold to Espanyol last summer and went on to make 9 La Liga appearances, and he clearly did well enough to catch the eye of Sporting CP.
