Portuguese media outlet O Jogo understands that Sporting CP midfielder Adrien Martins is set to leave Estadio Jose Alvalade at the end of the season.
The highly rated footballer was on the radar of quite a few top clubs in the January window and with mere six months left on his contract, everybody expected the Lions would cash in on their prized possession.
But, with Sporting CP leading the chase in Portuguese Primeira Liga, coach Jorge Jesus didn’t want to let Martins leave midway through the season.
This basically means that the 26-year-old will finish the current campaign at the club before leaving on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.
After enjoying a couple of successful seasons at Estadio Jose Alvalade, Martins has struggled for playing time this term, making just one substitute outing in the league.
Since coming through the youth ranks at Sporting CP, the attacking midfield made a total of 72 league appearances, scoring 3 goals in the process.
