Premier League outfit West Ham have so far done a wonderful job in the transfer market as Slaven Bilic’s squad got bolstered by quality players that are expected to help Hammers go past the last season’s blues.
In effort to further strengthen the squad and add another marquee name to their ranks besides Javier Hernandez and Marko Arnautovic, West Ham have this week officially launched an assault on Sporting CP midfielder William Carvalho.
The Portugal international has long been linked with a Premier League move but has thus far proven difficult to prize away from the Primeira Liga giants.
The Hammers reportedly lodged a €30 million bid plus €10 million in bonuses for the Euro 2016 winner, but the approach got rebuffed according to Portuguese daily Record.
William Carvalho’s release clause stands at €44 million and West Ham could consider making another push towards activating it given the fact their initial offer is only €4 million short of the required amount.
Carvalho made 32 Primeira Liga appearances last season, adding 2 goals along the way.
