Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola has learned that FYR Macedonia international Stefan Ristovski has joined Sporting CP on a permanent transfer.

The highly rated defender initially signed a loan deal with an option to buy, but A Bola claims the buy-out clause has been automatically triggered when the 25-year-old made his first appearance.

The cost of the transfer was not disclosed, but the source understands Sporting will pay €2.25 million up front, while the total fee could rise to €2.5 million.

According to reports, HNK Rijeka are also entitled to a certain percentage from the next sale.

Stefan Ristovski had spent much of his early career in Italy, representing Crotone, Frosinone, Latina and Parma, before moving to Croatia two years ago.

The right-sided defender enjoyed a great deal of success with HNK Rijeka, lifting the league trophy in his second season.
