Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon are readying summer bid for Botafogo forward Henrique Almeida Caixeta Nascentes, according to A Bola.

The Lions are widely expected to stay without top scorer Islam Slimani, who has a long list of admirers in English Premier League.

As a result, they are in the market for a new centre forward and appear to have made Henrique their primary target.

Sporting aim to recruit the 23-year-old on a season-long loan in the summer, and then attempt to sign him permanently on a free transfer with the player’s contract due to expire in June 2016.

Henrique has been unable to nail down a regular starting berth at Botafogo after arriving from Sao Paulo, but the Lions, nonetheless, believe he has got enough potential to succeed in Europe.

The forward has enjoyed one short spell in Europe having spent several months on loan with Granada during the 2011/2012 season, making six La Liga appearances.
