Sporting hope to increase William Carvalho’s release clause

Portuguese media outlet A Bola is reporting that Sporting CP are set to offer star player William Carvalho a new contract in the coming weeks.

The Lions are well aware of the fact that the 25-year-old received several lucrative proposals from English Premier League in the summer, and they have been forced to act.

Namely, Sporting CP plan to give their star man a big pay rise, but will also attempt to increase his release clause from €45m to €60m.

It remains to be seen whether William Carvalho and his representatives would be prepared to consider such an arrangement, as clubs like West Ham, West Bromwich and Monaco could reignite their interest in January.

Following some impressive performances for club and country, the Portugal international remains one of Europe’s most sought-after footballers.
