Competition: MLS
Market: Sporting Kansas City win
Odds: 1/1 @ 888sport
Looking to widen their buffer at the top of the Western Conference, Sporting Kansas City will make the trip to a downbeat Nippert Stadium late on Wednesday night.
Starting with the hosts, putting in another sluggish display last time out over the weekend, FC Cincinnati were hit with a last-gasp defeat at the hands of Minnesota on home soil and Jaap Stam’s men already find themselves sat rock-bottom of the Eastern Conference. Now sat two points adrift of DC United and coming off the back of back-to-back defeats, the former Manchester United icon has seen his side collect just three points from their last seven MLS matchups on the spin and are seen as a landslide pick to lift the wooden spoon this season. With a growing reputation for their issues in the final third and holding the worst attacking record in either the West or the East, it should also be noted that the last time Cincinnati faced off against Wednesday’s guests they were hit with a 4-0 drumming on their travels.
As for the visitors, while the mood in Cincinnati’s camp remains at a continued low, Sporting KC made a return to winning ways in rampant fashion over the weekend. Still holding onto their spot at the top of the Western Conference, the Wizards picked up a thumping 4-0 win at home against the Colorado Rapids on Sunday and Head Coach Peter Vermes has been filled with praise for his side’s performances this season. Losing just one of their last six MLS matchups on the bounce and looking to lay down another marker on their travels in midweek, it could be worth keeping an eye out for leading marksman Alan Pulido on Wednesday night. Once again finding the net against Colorado last time out, the 29-year-old has three goals in his last four MLS appearances and should be confident of extending on that tally.
