Sporting Clube de Portugal left-back Leandro Grimi will miss the remainder of the season having twisted his left knee during Saturday’s goalless draw against FC Porto while Fábio Rochemback has also picked up an injury that will keep him out of next week’s UEFA Champions League second leg against FC Bayern München.
Uefa.com reported the 24-year-old Grimi will undergo surgery over the next week and is expected to be sidelined for the next four months. Midfielder Rochemback, 27, is likely to be out of action for three weeks after damaging his left shoulder at the Estádio do Dragão. The news is a further blow to Sporting, who went down 5-0 at home to Bayern in last week’s first knockout round first leg and travel to Munich for the return on 10 March.
