Sporting Lisbon are set to complete the signing of Japanese striker Junya Tanaka from Kashiwa Reysol, reports A Bola.
The Lions already have Fredy Montero and Islam Slimani in their ranks, but with the Algerian linked with summer exit, they have decided to sign another centre forward.
A Bola has learned that Sporting have had a €500,000 bid accepted for the 26-year-old, who will sign a four-year deal at Estadio Jose Alvalade, with a €45 million release clause inserted in his contract.
The forward, who can also play on the left wing, has spent his entire professional career at Kashiwa Reysol, scoring 40 goals in 138 league appearances.
He has also netted 6 times in 15 Asian Champions League matches, while earning one Japan cap back in 2012.
Junya Tanaka has now received an opportunity to prove his worth at the biggest stage, although he is likely to face fierce competition for places at Estadio Jose Alavalade.
