Tottenham winger Gareth Bale said their win over rivals Arsenal was a just reward for their recent form.
Goals from Rafael van der Vaart and Kyle Walker secured a victory for Harry Redknapp’s side which pushed them up to sixth in the table.
Bale thinks the team were well worth their win and believes they have been playing some excellent football this season.
He told the club’s official website: “It was great to get the three points. We started well, got ahead and that settled us down. They got one back after the break but I think overall we created more clear-cut chances and we looked like the team that was going on to win and we did that.”
“We’ve been on a good run of late, we’ve been playing well and we definitely deserved the victory.”
The Wales international believes it was important for Spurs to maintain their good form going into the break and admits they face a huge challenge against Newcastle when the Premier League resumes next week.
Bale added: “It’s massively important to have that momentum and to go away on an international break on a high.”
“We’ve done that, now it’s important we get everyone back from the internationals fully fit and get our heads back on it.”
Of Newcastle, he added: “They’ve made a great start to the season.”
“It will be a test for us, but one we’ll be ready for and hopefully we’ll go up there and make it five on the trot in the Premier League.”
Spurs will eclipse Newcastle on the table with victory at St. James’ Park on Sunday week.
