Spurs agree deal for Bundesliga defender

German newspaper Bild understands that Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement to sign defender Kevin Wimmer from FC Koln.

Spurs were hot on the trail of the talented centre-back for quite a while, but they have surprised everyone by wrapping up the deal well ahead of the summer transfer window.

According to Bild, Tottenham will pay €6 million for the 22-year-old stopper, who will sign a four-year contract with the Premier League side.

Kevin Wimmer joined FC Koln from LASK Linz in the summer of 2012 and he helped the Billy Goats gain promotion to the Bundesliga in his first season at the club.

The youngster continued the rich vein of form in Germany’s top flight, starting no fewer than 24 league matches this term.

After suffering a 3-0 loss to top 4 rivals Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur are available at 4/7 to see off bottom placed Leicester City on Saturday.
