Tottenham Hotspur and Fiorentina have emerged as main candidates to sign Spanish defender Marc Bartra from Barcelona, Tuttosport has claimed.
The highly rated centre-back is almost certain to quit Camp Nou this summer and he recently confirmed that his release clause now stood at mere €8 million.
Italian giants Fiorentina finally hope to resolve their defensive crisis by recruiting Bartra in the summer transfer window, but Tottenham Hotspur appears to be keen as well.
However, with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen establishing a good defensive partnership at White Hart Lane, a move to Artemio Franchi would definitely be a better option with regards to the player’s chances of securing regular playing time.
Marc Bartra only managed 13 La Liga appearances this season, but he, nonetheless, succeeded in securing his place in Spain’s Euro 2016 squad.
The 25-year-old does not seem prepared to wait for his chance at Camp Nou any more and is widely expected to leave this summer.
