Tottenham Hotspur failed to secure a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League when they faced Sporting Lisbon in North London on Thursday.
Antonio Conte’s men needed to win to complete the task with a game to spare, and they thought they had managed it when Harry Kane scored what appeared to be a very late winner. However, the VAR conducted a long check on the legitimacy of the goal and eventually decided the England captain was offside. Conte protested his way into being sent off, but the scoreline remained 1-1 as the referee blew the final whistle.
The Italian tactician was obviously furious after the match, which he showed clearly when he answered one question in the post-match presser before storming out.
