(GSM) – Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp is confident that Heurelho Gomes will be fit ahead of the Manchester City clash, but has placed Ben Alnwick on standby.
The Brazilian keeper injured his groin during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Bolton and Spurs are still waiting on scan results, as they prepare for Wednesday’s crucial clash at the Eastlands.
Despite City’s recent permission to replace Shay Given with Marton Fulop, Redknapp has dismissed claims that he would look to bring in a new face should Gomes be ruled out.
The Tottenham manager is happy with the credentials of former Sunderland man Alnwick, while Spurs also have Jimmy Walker as another option for the midweek showdown.
