Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric believes his side have what it takes to have their name engraved on the Premier League title come May.
The Croatia international was instrumental in creating Spurs’ equaliser in their 2-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday, and he believes the side are capable of winning the league title for the first time since the 1960-61 season.
“Everything is possible. We have enough potential to be champions of England. But of course it is on us to take what we can take,” Modric told Croatian daily Sportske Novosti.
“Morale is sky high, we are in heaven in the dressing room – the atmosphere is unbelievable and we really enjoy the football, which can be seen on pitch.”
Spurs are six points behind first-placed Manchester United in the Premier League standings, but after two thrilling wins against north London rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, Modric said the boys from White Hart Lane fear no team.
“We can beat everybody in this league but then again we have one problem – we have to play much better against teams which are not at the top of the table,” he said.
“That is our problem. We just can’t lose points against teams from the second part of the table.”
“And whoever wants to be champions has to play as good against the top clubs and all the rest too.”
Spurs travel to Birmingham City in the Premier League on Saturday.
