Spurs, City target the next Messi

(GSM) – Premier League clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are among a host of clubs keen to secure the services of teenage sensation Gai Assulin, who was last week released by Barcelona.

Assulin, who has drawn comparisons with Lionel Messi, is being monitored by clubs all over Europe, keen to secure the services of the Israeli youngster.

After failing to break into the Barca star studied side, the 19-year-old is looking for a chance in English football.

Managed by Israeli super agent Pini Zahavi, who has big connections at clubs in the Premier League most notably Chelsea, Assulin has been invited by Manchester City to Eastlands for a week’s trial and for talks.

But there are numerous other clubs interested in the player despite worries of a knee injury and the attacking midfielder is considering his options.

A source close to the player told Soccernet: “Nothing has been agreed just yet, we shall wait and see, but there are a few offers and interested clubs.

“Many, many players are described as the next Lionel Messi so that is not really worth discussing, but who knows, maybe he will be as he does have great skills.”

Assulin made his Barcelona debut aged 16, before a knee ligament problem kept him out for an entire season.
