Tottenham Hotspur are confident about signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton this summer, according to The Telegraph.
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is keen on strengthening the middle section of his team, especially with the future of club record signing Tanguy Ndombele still hanging in the air. Further more, with Jan Vertonghen only extending his contract until the end of July to complete the Premier League season in north London, Eric Dier is set for a more frequent role in the centre of defence, leaving the gap in central midfield potentially bigger.
Hojbjerg recently said he was ready for the next step in his career and highlighted his ambitions to play at the top-end of the Premier League, as well as in the Champions League, and added that he was grateful to the Saints for giving him a ‘platform to grow’.
Everton are reportedly interested in his services too, but it seems there is belief at Spurs that they will beat off all competition for his signature. On the other hand, Mourinho is expected to try and raise some funds for the deal by giving up on a few of his existing players.
