Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a sensational move for unsettled Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko in the January transfer window, according to the Daily Echo.
The Bosnian has been in good form in the English Premier League this campaign, but reports suggest that he is not happy to be used as the teams ‘super sub’ and he wants more opportunities in the starting eleven.
Spurs had enquired about Dzeko’s services when he was at Wolfsburg and tried to bring him to White Hart Lane, but the deal never materialised as City made a bid of £27 million to secure his services.
The English Premier League Champions rejected an approach from Serie A club AC Milan in the summer, but it is now thought they are open to letting the striker leave in January.
Andre Villas-Boas is short of attacking options and if he were to sign Dzeko, then it is likely he would be his first choice forward.
However, the deal could hit a stumbling block as the Citizens are currently paying him 170,000-per-week, which Spurs cannot afford.
The North London club may now look to bring in Dzeko on a loan-deal, similar to what they did with Emmanuel Adebayor and then try to make it permanent in the summer.
