Spurs eyeing Adebayor exit to fund Lukaku bid

Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sell Emmanuel Adebayor in order to finance a move for Belgium international Romelu Lukaku, according to the Express.

Adebayor was reintroduced into the Spurs fold by Tim Sherwood halfway through last season, and the Togo international scored fourteen goals in twenty-four appearances.

However, new manager Mauricio Pochettino looks likely to offload the former Arsenal and Manchester City man, who is on a weekly wage of £170,000.

Lukaku, who featured in Belgium’s come from behind win over Algeria in their World Cup opener in Belo Horizonte yesterday, spent last season on loan with Everton where he scored sixteen goals in all competitions.

With a return to Stamford Bridge looking unlikely, a number of clubs including the Toffees and Champions League finalists Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have been linked with a move to secure his services though the North London side are keen to fend off the competition.
