Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign out-of-favour Inter Milan defender Alvaro Pereira, according to TalkSport.
The Uruguay international, who only moved to the San Siro last summer, has made just five league appearances for Walter Mazzarri’s side this season, and has completed ninety minutes on just one occasion – a 1-1 draw with Calgari back in September.
Spurs’ boss Andre Villas Boas is keen on bringing in a left sided defender having played Jan Vertonghen out of position for much of this season.
Reports in Argentina are suggesting that Estiudiantes are also interesting in securing the services of the 28 year old, who has fifty-two full international caps and is set be part of Oscar Tabarez’s squad for next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil.
Uruguay, who lifted the trophy in 1930 and 1950, are priced at 25/1 to do so again in Rio De Janeiro on July 13th.
