Tottenham Hotspur are going through an extremely heavy injury crisis in their defensive department at the moment. Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, the preferred centre-back duo, have been out for a while, as has Ben Davies. Radu Dragusin has now picked up an injury as well, leaving head coach Ange Postecoglou without any senior options in the heart of defence. Archie Gray, who has been forced to step into the role, though he has done relatively well, is not only 18 years old, but also a right-back by trade.
What’s more, fullbacks Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence have had injury problems of their own.
The situation has forced the club into a desperate search for defensive reinforcements as the winter transfer window approaches its closure, and according to Sky Sports, they are in advanced talks with AC Milan over the possibility of signing Fikayo Tomori.
For the time being, it remains unclear if the deal being discussed between the clubs is a loan for the rest of the season or a permanent transfer.
