A report from Talk Sport is today suggesting that Tottenham Hotspur have become the latest team to show an interested in Barcelona striker, David Villa.
Spain’s all time leading scorer has found first-team opportunities tough to come by since making his return from injury earlier in the season as he has been in the starting eleven just six times in La Liga.
That has put some doubt over his future with the Spanish giants and Spurs seem keen on bringing him to White Hart Lane.
There is no doubt that he is still a prolific goal-scorer that is one of the best around, which is why a lot of interest is being shown in him.
Tottenham have made a good start in the English Premier League and believe that Villa’s services would help them secure a place in the top four this campaign.
Jermain Defoe has netted ten goals for the North Londoners already this season, but Emmanuel Adebayor has scored just twice and could be off to the African Cup of Nations, so a new striker might be Andre Villas-Boas’ priority in this January transfer window.
It is certainly a story to keep an eye on this month.
