Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Issa Diop from West Ham United, according to Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old centre-back joined West Ham 18 months ago from Toulouse for £22 million, and has so far made 54 appearances and scored twice for the club in all competitions.
For their part, Spurs are happy that Toby Alderweireld signed a new deal a few days ago and hopeful that Jan Vertonghen will follow suit, but with the Belgian duo being 30 and 32 years old, respectively, they are on the lookout for long-term successors and they see Diop as a worthy candidate to carry the defensive torch along with the 23-year-old Davinson Sanchez.
However, the Hammers are not interested in any offers for Diop’s services at the moment, but it remains to be seen how the player himself will react to the interest of a club playing in the Champions League under the command of Jose Mourinho. Also, with three and a half years remaining on his contract, West Ham are in a very strong position in this matter.
