Tottenham Hotspur have decided to make Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon their second choice target should they fail to sign Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis, according to the Mirror.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino is said to be extremely keen on adding Lo Celso to his ranks, and reports have said that the north London club already had a bid of over £62 million rejected by Betis who are reluctant to sell the Argentinean midfielder. For all of Pochettino’s wishes, such a response from the La Liga side has forced Spurs to contemplate looking elsewhere.
Their interest in Fernandes has been reported before, but now it appears they might actually rival Manchester United, who are known to be aiming to bring the 24-year-old to Old Trafford, for his signature.
Having not signed a player in the last two windows, club president Daniel Levy has promised Pochettino to back him up with significant transfer funds this time around following the team’s heartbreak in the Champions League final.
