A report from the Daily Mirror is suggesting that Andre Villas-Boas is set to try and bring Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho to White Hart Lane in the January transfer window after going to watch him play in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
Villas-Boas managed Moutinho during his spell with the Portuguese club and he was a key part in the side won the Europa League.
Spurs also tried to land the 26-year-old last summer and it looked as though they were very close to securing a deal, but it fell through at the final stage.
AVB is clearly an admirer of Moutinho and believes that he could really set the English Premier League alight. Reports suggest that it will take £24 million to secure his services.
Tottenham might face a fight though as the likes of Russian big-spenders Zenit St Petersburg appear to be monitoring his situation. What the North London club will look to do is act quickly in the New Year and try to do a deal as soon as the window opens.
There is no doubt that the playmaker is a class act that could really achieve great thing in the English top flight.
We shall see.
