Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a bid from Napoli for their out-of-favour midfielder Etienne Capoue, according to the Guardian.
The France international was one of several players to be brought in by previous Spurs manager Andre Villas Boas in the summer, and as yet has failed to make a real impression on the first team.
New Spurs boss Tim Sherwood is expected to move on a number of his first team squad, though with time running out in the January window, the majority of his business looks likely to be conducted in the summer.
Capoue did come off the bench to make just his ninth Premier League appearance on Wednesday evening, scoring his first goal for the club in a 5-1 home defeat to Manchester City.
Tottenham remain just three points behind fourth place Liverpool, and can be backed at a price of 5/2 to finish in the Champions League qualification places.
