(GSM) – Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has ruled out signing Steven Pienaar but still hoping to recruit Joe Cole on a free transfer from Chelsea.

The Spurs inquiry for Pienaar at the end of last season was rejected by Everton boss David Moyes.

After dismissing the rumours, Redknapp told talk SPORT: “I like Pienaar, don’t get me wrong. But there is nothing there. I wouldn’t see that as being a real goer.”

Meanwhile, the 63-year-old tactician has confirmed his interest in signing Cole, who is out of contract at Chelsea this summer.

“We’re interested in Joe (Cole),” Redknapp added.

“I know Daniel (Levy) was talking to his people and we’re interested. If the chairman can pull a deal off I’d love to have him at Tottenham.

“But it all comes down to if we can do a deal. I don’t get involved in the financial side; the chairman can do that with Joe’s people. Hopefully there is a deal that can be done because we would love him at White Hart Lane.”

Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested in securing Cole’s services.
