Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly interested in signing Stefan de Vrij from Inter Milan in January, and as relayed by Sky Sports, the interest remains with a view of the upcoming summer transfer window.
As things stand, the 30-year-old would rather sign a new contract with the Nerazzurri and stay put, but he won’t be too shy to leave in case he feels he might be losing his place in the team under Simone Inzaghi.
De Vrij joined Inter in 2018 from Lazio as a free agent, and his move caused some controversy back then as he conceded a penalty in the match against Inter on the final day of the season, thus (probably inadvertently, of course) helping his new team qualify for the Champions League at the expense of his old one.
Spurs boss Antonio Conte knows De Vrij well of course, having worked at Inter himself. The Netherlands international was an important part of Conte’s team which won the Scudetto last season.
