Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly keen to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton back in January, but the move didn’t happen just then. Nonetheless, according to the Daily Telegraph, they are still keen on the midfielder boosting their ranks and they’re prepared to wait for the next transfer window to make it happen.
The 33-time capped Denmark international is mostly a defence-minded player, but he can do the job further up too if required. The future of Spurs’ record signing Tanguy Ndombele still appears to be up in the air after head coach Jose Mourinho chose to criticize his efforts on the pitch publicly, and Hojbjerg could be seen as a potential replacement.
It seems that Spurs would be willing to do whatever it takes to see the 26-year-old move from the south coast to North London, but in current circumstances and the effect the Covid-19 pandemic is set to have on their budget, they are forced to wait for an accurate assessment of the eventual damage to their purse.
