Pedro Porro will not be leaving Sporting Lisbon to join Tottenham Hotspur in this window, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic. The talks between the two clubs have broken down, after Sporting backtracked on their word regarding their demands.
Spurs were looking to strengthen their ranks on the right defensive flank ahead of the second half of the season, and they reportedly saw Porro as the perfect candidate. The 23-year-old was very keen on the move, but in the end he was left distraught by Sporting’s change of heart, especially after being told by president Frederico Varandas he would be allowed to leave following the team’s 0-2 defeat to Porto in the League Cup final on Saturday. With his contract running for two and a half years more, Porro looks set to remain in the Portuguese capital.
In a total of 98 appearances for Sporting in all competitions, Porro has 12 goals and 20 assists.
