Tottenham Hotspur are set to enter the race for Islam Slimani, currently on loan at AS Monaco from Leicester City, according to RMC Sport.
The Algerian striker joined Monaco on a 12-month loan from Leicester last summer, and since then he has had 14 goal involvements (seven goals, seven assists) in as many appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 side. There are, however, a number of teams badly in need of a frontman, and Slimani has so far been linked with Aston Villa and Manchester United. The Red Devils need someone to step into the void left by the injury suffered by Marcus Rashford, and they’ve also been looking at former Watford man Odion Ighalo.
But now, with Harry Kane out for several months too, Spurs have fallen into the same problem and they need a man to at least temporarily fill the shoes of the England captain. Apparently, ‘active conversations’ are ongoing about taking the 31-year-old Slimani to North London.
