Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Steven Bergwijn of PSV Eindhoven, as reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic. The former BBC journalist claims Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is painfully aware of his need for an alternative attacking approach in the absence of his star striker Harry Kane, but at the moment club chairman Daniel Levy is not working on any acquisition deal for a frontman.
The 22-year-old winger has been catching the eyes of big clubs across Europe for a while now, having been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich, Ajax, Manchester United and both Milan clubs.
Should a deal for Bergwijn be completed before the window closes this week, it would come at a very good time considering that Christian Eriksen has already gathered his personal belongings from the training facilities and is set to arrive to Milan today (Monday), to finalize his move to Inter. The fee for the Denmark international has reportedly been agreed at €20 million.
