Competition: Ligue 1
Market: St Etienne win
Odds: 11/8 @ Bet 365
Hoping to continue their bright start to the season, St Etienne will have the chance to close the gap on the top four when they travel to the Stade des Costières on Friday night.
Starting with Friday night’s hosts, while the newly promoted Nimes may have recorded two wins upon their return to Ligue 1, Bernard Blaquart’s side have begun to struggle and look set to face a relegation battle later in the year. Coming off the back of a 2-0 loss to Lyon last weekend, Nimes have now failed to win any of their last seven outings and find themselves just a single point above the bottom three. Along with failing to win a match at home since the middle of August, it will be their form in the final third most worrying Blaquart. Nimes have now failed to score in their last four matches on the bounce.
As for the visitors, while they may have just missed a return to European football last season, it has been a very impressive start for St Etienne. Aside from a 3-1 loss to Champions League contenders Lille at the start of the month, the Green and Whites are unbeaten in their previous four outings. One man to watch for the visitors will be former Sunderland winger and Tunisia captain Wahbi Khazri. Converting from the spot in their 1-1 draw last weekend, the 27-year-old now has four in his last four on Ligue 1 duty.
